OSJ have secured two-year funding for three part-time positions to develop new community projects, building on John’s continuing work with Music for Autism.
We are delighted that Cayenna Ponchione [conductor, composer, Oxford academic and entrepreneur] can now formally join our team, with support on fundraising from Helen Duncan [experienced freelance grant seeker and an Associate at Wootton George Consulting] and on social media and marketing from Rachel Lockwood [Rachel comes to arts administration from a background in composition and music academia. She has worked at the Sage Gateshead, for the BBC Proms, Oxford Philharmonic, and for City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.]
Some of Cayenna’s first projects will be
• Bringing the Afghan Women’s Orchestra (Ensemble Zohra) to Oxfordshire
• The Compassion Project – students from different socio-economic backgrounds are guided to work collaboratively to write poetry on the theme of compassion
• Displaced Voices – Music with, for and about refugees and asylum seekers
• Music for Everyone – with a focus on those with autism, dementia and learning difficulties
