My Music at SJSS: Lord Archer – great reviews

Thank you to the lovely Audience Club for their comments on Lord Archer’s ‘My Music’ – please see below for a selection!  Our next ‘My Music’ concert will be with the fantastically-entertaining Joanna Lumley in September – full details here.  As always, thanks to Paul Blezard for his impeccable interviewing skills.

A brilliant hour of entertainment to escape from the hurly burly of a working day. Jeffrey Archer was on fantastic form- his choice of music was engaging and wide ranging and he was kept on task admirably by Paul Blezard who steered him through his career as a writer and a politician. The orchestra was on fantastic form. Looking forward to more lunch time concerts later in the year. – Caroline Powell

It’s always a pleasure to hear the orchestra in this magnificent church. – Maxine Morse

Lord Archer was an interesting (occasionally bombastic) interviewee, keen to emphasise that his wife, whom he mentioned constantly, was more of a music intellectual than himself. I have to confess to not having read his novels – though in my pocket I was carrying one by Libby Purves, whom I became interested in by attending an earlier My Music in exactly the same way!  Well worth seeing and hearing him. – Roger Sansom
